Henry’s Day In The Sun

From The Grass Roots To The World Cup

Henry’s Day In The Sun

“The pass > the flick > the header > the finish”. Eight words, which described a sublime goal this morning on the Sun Football Twitter feed.

That worldie, which you can see below, was scored by England 6 a side Footballer Henry Muggeridge, when he was playing for Whitehawk FC earlier in the season, before the Covid-19 pandemic forced most non-league football to end early.

It was but another glorious goal for the 26 year old, in a season of many highlights.

The midfielder – a product of Fulham’s Academy, before moving to Bristol City and Charlton  Athletic – formed a vital part of the England squad which reached the Quarter Finals of the World Cup, losing to Greece in one of the all time classic matches.

He notched a couple in the game with Bulgaria – and we might be biased, but we reckon at least one was better than the one in The Sun. What do you think?

We’ll be speaking to the man himself next week, to get the lowdown on the goal, but also how he’s getting on in Lockdown, with no football to play!

But to remind you of some happier times, have a look at these brilliant pictures from one of our official photographers, Paul Rafferty, of Henry in action in Crete.
